Hi Everyone,

March of Dimes Canada is holding another Assistive Mobile Technology Initiative. They will be giving away 6 to 8 tablet devices to people who think it would help:

·         Increase access to services

·         Explore or control their environment

·         Contribute to their ability to take on new leisure pursuits

·         Contribute to improving their education

·         Assist in their employment objectives

·         Assist in communication, verbal or written

In order to be eligible, you must have an ongoing disability that requires the use of assistive technology, and:

● be in financial need. The maximum after-tax household income cannot exceed $45,000

● have reached the age of majority for the province they reside in

● be a Canadian resident

● be in agreement that his or her photo and story may be used by March of Dimes Canada in the organization’s material including publications, newsletters, website and social media properties.

You will need to fill out an application, and send in a letter of assessment from an Ocupational therapist, Speech Language Pathologist and/or health care professional, and proof of income documentation. For a full list of requirements and benefits, please see the attached forms. The cut off for applications is January 22, 2018, and recipients will be chosen on January 29th.

I hope you all are having a relaxing and enriching holiday season. This week is usually pretty slow for events and activities around town, so it might be the perfect time to check out new podcasts, streaming video, audiobooks, in-library programs, or some of the online courses provided by Lynda.com to everyone with a Calgary Public Library card. https://calgarylibrary.ca/ has everything you need to get engaged and interested.
