Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of September 9 to 15:


  • Jul 2-Oct 15: Farmers Market @ Triwood Community Association (2244 Chicoutimi Dr NW) 3-7pm. Runs every Tuesday throughout the summer.
  • September 10 (7:00pm): Mysterious Barricades Concert for Suicide Awareness - At Rozsa Centre. Enjoy a night of music for a wonderful cause as the Mysterious Barricades Concert Society hosts the Calgary contribution to their coast-to-coast concert series. Genres: classic, choral, jazz and more. For more information:
  • September 10 (7:00pm): Evelyn - At River Park Church - this event is part of Marda Loop Justice Film Festival's justREEL series. It will be at the River Park Auditorium.  For more information:
  • September 11 (3:00pm - 7:00pm): Hillhurst/Sunnyside Annual Harvest Fair - At Hillhurst/Sunnyside Community Association, there is a competition for the biggest and tastiest produce. Some are "biggest pumpkin" to "weirdest shaped vegetable."
  • September 12 (6:30pm): Secret Cinema - At Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers, there will be another collection of mystery 16mm film screenings. Pay by donation only. For more information:
  • September 9 - 20: Community Beacons -  Beakerhead brings together more than 150 arts and engineering collaborators from across the globe to build, compete and exhibit interactive works of art and entertainment. Venue changes, depending on the day. For more information:
  • September 14 (3:00pm-10:00pm): Moonlight Market - At C-Square in East Village, there will be more than 45 artists, retailers, food and beverage vendors.
  • September 15 (10:00am-3:00pm): Plane Pull - At UPS Customer Center, 22 Aero Dr NE. For the eighth year, United Way of Calgary and Area and UPS are partnering up to host a plane pull. 50 teams will come to together to pull a 200,00 lb plane across the tarmac to raise awareness on Calgary's #unignorable issues. There will be food trucks, face painting and live entertainment.
  • September 15 (10:30am): El Salvador Independence Day - El Salvadorians are celebrating with a free, outdoor event at City Hall. There will be a flag-raising ceremony, live folk dancing and a concluding DJ set.
  • September 15 (11:00am-1:30pm): Walk a Mile in Her Shoes -  At Southcentre Mall. This is a fundraiser that encourages women and men to empower others to walk away from domestic violence.
  • September 15 (5:00pm-10:00pm): Bridgeland - Riverside La Passeggiata - Go to the lantern filled streets from the Italian Cultural Centre to the Village Piazza. Italian music, dance, grape stomping, bocce and more.
  • September 15 (9:00am): Terry Fox Run - At Fort Calgary, go for a run in honor of Terry Fox. For more information:
