CASS has a voucher for 2 free tickets to “Nine Dragons”, a performance at Vertigo Theatre, good through September 16 - October 15. Performances are weekday evenings at 7:30 pm, and weekend afternoons at 2 pm. If you are interested in these tickets please let me know and I will draw names on Friday September 22 at 1 pm. The March of Dimes Canada’s Learning Independence for Future Empowerment (L.I.F.E.) Program will be running in Calgary from October 16-27. This program covers goal setting, financial literacy, health & wellness, music therapy and more.  Please see the poster and application form attached. Spots fill up quickly, so get yours in fast!

The candidates for the 2017 Calgary municipal election have all been declared. There are a lot of great resources to find out more about each of the candidates for mayor, councillor, and trustee. A great place to start is at http://calgarydemocracy.ca/levels/calgary/elections/2017 . This site has links to any web presence and platform information that there is about the candidates.

Sep 22- Oct 1: Backyard Alley Party @  The alley North of 17th Ave SW, between 4 & 5 St. While 17th Ave is under construction, the nightlife has moved to the back alley. There will be lots of art, activities, and patios set up, Fridays from 6-10 pm, Sat & Sun from 10 am-10pm.

Sep 27- Oct 1: Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival @ High River, Ab. High River is 45 minutes away, but even if you can’t make it, you might still be able to see the balloons from the city—check out http://www.heritageinninternationalballoonfestival.com/event-information/ to see the schedule, and keep your eyes peeled!

Sep 29-Oct 1: Alberta Culture Days @ Various locations. This is the yearly interactive arts festival that pops up all over Alberta! Go to https://ab.culturedays.ca/en/activities to find what is going on where, and when.

Sep 30: Print It Yourself Festival @ Alberta Printmakers Studio and gallery (4025 4 St SE) 11 am-4pm. See the printmaking process and try out linocut printing, silkscreening, and even a letterpress. http://www.albertaprintmakers.com/print-it-yourself-festival has all of the information. They will also have a spot set up at the Alberta Culture Days event at Olympic Plaza on September 29.

Sept 22- Oct 1: YYC Pizza Week @ various locations. Prices also vary, so check out http://www.yycpizzaweek.com/ for all of the info to take part in the pizza parade.

Sep 28: Ghost Tour @ St Mary’s University (14500 Bannister Rd SE). Registration and other information can be found here: https://www.stmu.ca/event/ghost-tour-2017/ Tickets are $11, children 12 & under are free. Please arrive by 6:30pm.
