Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) is a Not-For-Profit Human Service Agency founded in 1988 to support people with disabilities to escape segregation and discrimination and live, work, play and, contribute to their communities. CASS’s work is a combination of advocacy, community development, and service to the people of Calgary.
Calgary Alternative Day Options is seeking experienced, flexible and self-motivated staff to provide community access supports to individuals in service. Experience supporting individuals with mental health concerns is considered an asset. Supports will focus on taking the individual to medical appointments and weekly errands as required.
The ability to help clients process their emotions, enthusiasm toward an active lifestyle, and creativity in finding community-inclusive activities are all considered assets. Flexibility, a sense of adventure, and a desire to learn new things and meet new people is mandatory. Applicants must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle they are willing to use for work. A criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check is also necessary for security purposes.
The hourly rate begins at $19.25 and will increase to $20.25 upon completing a successful probationary period (90 days), completing mandatory training, and submitting complete documents. The set schedule for this role will be Monday from 08:30 to 15:00, Wednesday from 08:30 to 15:00 and Friday from 08:30 to 15:00.
Diploma or equivalent experience in Disability Studies
CASS requires that all employees, sub-contractors, practicum students, and volunteers are current in the following training: (must be completed within 60 days of hire)
CASS also requires of every employee:
Knowledge in supporting adults with developmental disabilities preferred
