It’s CASS’ 30th Anniversary this year, and you can find out all of the ways that you can join the celebrations by checking out the CASS News post here:

MoMo dance class registration is open for the Fall. You can get more information or register here: Please note that there will be a chance in location for this upcoming session, and classes will now be held at DJD Dance Centre (111 12 Ave SE)

Did you know that the City of Calgary has gotten goats involved in the city’s weed control plan again this year? They are living just off of Memorial Drive, near Centre Street this year, and will be grazing McHugh Bluff until August 15th. If you can’t make it out to see them this year, don’t worry, they have a 4 year contract. There is a great article with lots of great videos of the goats here:



Aug 23: Lethal Weapon 2 @ ContainR, Sunnyside (1020 2 Ave NW) 9pm. Free outdoor movie screening. Bring your own chair.

Aug 24: Overboard @ Kensington Summertime Outdoor Movies (1210 Kensington Rd NW) Movie starts at 9 pm, bring your own chair. More info here:

Aug 24 & 25: Carifest @ Olympic Plaza (24th ; 4-10pm) & Shaw millennium Park (25th ; 4pm-8pm). A vibrant festival celebrating Caribbean cultures through music, performances, food, and more.

Aug 25: Muslim Heritage Day @ Olympic Plaza (228 8 Ave SE) 11am-6pm. Free snacks, raffles, performances, along with exhibits depicting early scientific inventions, art and architecture, and more. There will be more info on their Facebook page, here:

Aug 25: 70th Anniversary Community Party @ Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (1320 5 Ave NW) 1-7pm. The Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association turns 70 this year, come join the celebration, there will be lots of games and live music. GO to for details.

Aug 26: Ride The River Cleanup Day @ Bow River- Shouldice Park to St George’s Island. 10am-2:30pm. Bring your own water craft and garbage bags to the launch at Shouldice Park and float down the river, and clean as you go. Has all of the details.


Aug 22: Jumanji @ Spruce Meadows, gates open at 7:30pm, movie starts at sundown. $20 per carload of people, or $15 in advance. Advance tickets can be purchased through

Aug 23: Breakfast for Dinner Night @ Highland Park Community Association (3716 2 St NW) 4:30-6:30pm. Pancakes, Sausages, and live music. $1 for members, $2 for non-members.

Aug 25: Killarney Record Fair @ St Matthews United Church (2035 26A St SE) 11am-4pm. $2 admission. Find new records, and chat with other music lovers.
