Community Support Worker - CSW2717

Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) is looking for an openminded, experienced Community Support Worker to support an individual in the community. Responsibilities include facilitating recreation and leisure activities and supporting the individual to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The schedule for this position is Tuesday and Thursday 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm and Wednesday noon - 5:00 pm. The hourly pay rate for this position begins at $18.40 and will increase to $20.25 upon completion of a successful probationary period (3 months), completion of mandatory training, and submission of required documentation.

All CASS staff are required to provide a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check




Required Education:
Disability Studies Diploma or related education

Required Training:

Successful applicants will complete mandatory training within 3 months of hire: Emergency First Aid; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention; Health and Safety; Abuse Awareness; Introduction to Your Role; Challenging Behaviours (Part I&II). The majority of these course are offered either online or in-house.

Previous experience in the disability field is preferred. Previous experience in mental health disorders, developmental disabilities, diversity advocacy, and similar areas will be considered as assets.
