Hi Everyone,

There are lots of stories coming out from International Day of Persons with Disability (IDPD) From December 3rd this year—Calgary’s IDPD celebration can be peeked at here: https://www.facebook.com/CalgaryIDPD/ and here: http://www.actionhall.ca/2017/12/december-3rd-united-nations-celebrates.html .  Stay tuned to both of those sources for more info about the upcoming yearly Calgary Disability Pride event in June.

Did you know that there are Massage Therapy Schools that offer reduced rates for therapeutic massage by their students?

·         Mount Royal University: You can book at $30, one-hour massage by calling (403)4410-6868.

·         MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy: $35, new clients can book by calling (403)567-1451.

·         ABM Student Massage Clinic: Initial visit is $20 for 45 mins, or $25 for one hour. New clients can book by calling (403) 717 0647.

·         Alberta College of Massage Therapy: $39 for one hour. Call (1-877) 768-8400 to book.

There are tons of Christmas lights up this season—Some of the best places to check them out are:

·         Zoolights@ The Calgary Zoo—This one requires you to pay admission, but it will be 75% off with your Fee Assistance card.  These lights will be up until January 6, and are on from 6-9pm.

·         Lion’s Festival of Lights @ Confederation park (corner of 14th St & 24 Ave NW). They are on until January 8, from 6pm-12pm.

·         Airdrie Festival of Lights @ Nose Creek Park, Airdrie, and run until Dec 31, from 6-9pm.

·         Christmas Lights @ Spruce Meadows. 2 kms of drive-through lights to enjoy! Until January 7, from 5-10pm.

Or, just find your favourite hill and bring everything you need to keep warm while you watch the sun go down and the city light up!

Dec 18-24: Holiday Film Series @ The Globe Cinema (617-8 Ave SW). The movies being shown this year are Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, Scrooged,Elf, Home Alone, and It’s a wonderful Life. Tickets are $10.  Check out http://globecinema.ca/movie.html#367 for more info.

Dec 18: All Ages & genders Makeup Tutorial by Maxwell Alexander @ CommunityWise Resource Centre (223 12 Ave SW) 4-8pm. Pay what you can, with a suggested amount of $10-15. Learn about the basics of skin care, makeup and brush care, with a live makeup tutorial, and a question and answer period at the end of the class.

Dec 20: Dan the One-Man Band @ National Music Centre (850 4 St SE) 11 am. If you haven’t gotten the chance to check out the new National Music Centre, this will be a great time to do it. If you have a City of Calgary Fee Assistance card, admission is 50% off the regular rates of $18/adult, $14/student or seniors. Groups of 10+ get reduced rates as well.
