Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of October 21 to 27:

Kevin's Poppy Sale is on October 23, 30 and November 6, 11:00am-1:00pm at the CASS office. Come and get a handmade poppy to support our veterans. Each poppy is $3 each - $2 is donated to the Legion. :)

FREE:

  • October 21 - 23 (11:00am-2:00pm): The Department of Art Print Sale – at the University of Calgary department of Art is holding a three-day flash sale of works by its members in the Art Building 621.
  • October 25 (7:00pm): Family Fun Night  - at Centre Street Church, this night is hosted by the Special Needs Ministry. This family fun night features an incredible group called Break the Barriers, in combination with a local worship band, Hope's Creed. They will show the power of inclusion as they perform gymnastics, dance, martial arts, stunts, music and more.
  • October 26 (9:00am-10:00am): Coffee Talk: The Wild Coasts of Canada with Scott Forsyth - At Art and Design Galleries (750 3 St SW), Art Space and Design Galleries will celebrate it's one year anniversary with a fundraiser in support of Indefinite Arts Centre, Canada's largest and oldest disability arts centre.   • Calgary Farmyard (Formerly Calgary Corn Maze) -  a fun place to go for all, about 10 mins southeast of Calgary. For more information on what's going on each week: https://www.calgaryfarmyard.com/fall-season Admission: online: $14.95, gate: $16.95
  • October 21 & 27 (7:30pm): Dirty Laundry Goes to Camp Episode 1: First Generation - At Lunchbox Theatre (160, 115 9 Ave SE), they have been offering up improvised, live soap operas to Calgarians for 20 years now. There will be plenty original drama and laughs. Admission: $10-16
  • October 22 (6:45pm): Calgary Spanish Film Festival –At Globe Cinema, there is the first ever Calgary Spanish Film Festival. Admission: $8-10
  • October 24 (7:30pm): Calgary New Music Festival - at multiple venues (see link for more details), listen to the new sounds and music from within Calgary and around the world during this festival dedicated to showcasing innovating creators and performers.   • October 24 (8:00pm): Casey Corbin - at the Laugh Shop at Hotel Blackfoot, go for a comedy show! Admission: $12.95-19.95
  • October 25 (11:30pm-1:30pm): Girl Power Hour - at Telus Convention Centre, The Field of Girl Power Hour are hosting a fundraiser in support of the Lionheart Foundation in support of young women's mental health. Guests enjoy a reception and luncheon gala with MC Dave Kelly. The event is free, but it does require registration in advance. https://www.girlpowerhour2019.com/contact-us
  • October 25 (7:30pm): The Woman in Black - At Lantern Church (1401 10 Ave SE), something evil is lurking in the dark at Lantern Church. Based on the 1983 Susan Hill's novel, is the story of a lawyer who is convinced that he is cursed by the titular Woman in Black. Admission: $20-25
  • October 25 (7:30pm): Silent Movie: The Phantom of the Opera - At Knox United Church (506 4 St SW), see a spooky-season staple in spectacular fashion at this special screening of the 1925 silent horror film The Phantom of the Opera, complete with live organ accompaniment. Admission: $5-20
  • October 25 (9:30pm): Two Late To The Party -  at Koi (100, 1011 1 St SW), enjoy an evening of folk music from Calgary and beyond at Koi, headlined by Calgary duo Two Late To The Party. Admission: $10
  • October 28 (7:30pm): Calidore String Quartet - at Bella Concert Hall, experience the virtuosic playing of the New York based quartet. They have been noted for the excellence in the New York Times, Los Angeles times and Washington Post and have received several international awards. Admission: $10-30
