Hi everyone,

Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of October 28 to November 4:

Kevin's Poppy Sale is on October 30 and November 6, 11:00am-1:00pm at the CASS office. Come and get a handmade poppy to support our veterans. Each poppy is $3 each - $2 is donated to the Legion. :)

  • October 29 (6:00pm-8:00pm): Calgary Stampede Western Legacy Awards – at the BMO Centre, Stampede Park, the annual awards ceremony for individuals and organizations who represent the best in western hospitality, commitment to community takes place! This free event feature awards in the following categories: Youth, Innovation, Sustained Contribution (Group/Individual). Light appetizers will be served.   • October 31 (9:30am-11:30am): Disability Tax Credit & RDSPs - Join Momentum for a free information session to learn about disability tax credits, RDSP's, who is eligible, how to complete the forms and how to access resources for more information. Contact Anna Jordan to register - annaj@momentum.org

  • November 2 (10:00am-4:00pm): Calgary Creative Arts Guild Show and Sale - at the Montgomery Community Association, join more than 25 artists from the Calgary Creative Arts Guild for their bi-annual show and sale. Bring a food bank donation and enter to win a door and raffle prizes. Light refreshments will be provided.

  • November 2 (11:00am-4:00pm): The Little Vegan Night Market -  at Marda Loop Communities Association, there will be tons of vendors available.

  • November 2 (6:00pm-11:00pm): Dia De Muertos & Catrinas Showcase - At the Chinese Cultural Centre, Casa Mexico is hosting a massive celebration! There will be live music, Mexican food, art and craft vendors, a skull-paint workshop, a procession for the deceased and much more!

  • October 29 (7:00pm): Adrian Chalifour with Guests - At the Ironwood (1229 9 Ave SE), catch BC indie singer-songwriter Adrian Chalifour as he stops in Calgary. Admission: $15
  • October 30 (8:00pm): San Fermin – At Commonwealth Bar & Stage, see American indie collective San Fermin as they stop in Calgary to support their latest release, The Cormorant I. They are known for blending pop-minded melodies with avant-garde arrangements. Admission: $25
  • October 31 (8:00pm): Aries Spears - at the Laugh Shop at Hotel Blackfoot, go for a comedy show! Admission: $19.95-24.95
  • November 1 (10:00am-3:00pm): What's Up With Happy Hibernators - at Bow Habitat Station (1440 17A St SE), make sure you stop by the Bow Habitat Station's Discovery Centre to learn about the local creatures who hibernate during the long winters. Experts from the Alberta Community Bat Program and the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation will be on-site to answer questions and help participants get hands-on with local species that hibernate through investigation stations. Admission: $10
  • November 1 (4:00pm-9:00pm) & November 2 (10:00am-6:00pm): Sublime - True Craft - at Memorial Park Library, there is a fall market that features only handpicked vendors of fine craft and artwork.
  • November 1 (5:30pm): The Dude Show Expo - At the Big Four Building, celebrate all things dude at this lifestyle expo and trade show. This event is held in support of the Movember Foundation. There will be vendors related to outdoor living, electronics and more. There will be some events like an ugly tattoo contest and video game tournament. Admission: $7-15
  • November 1 (6:00pm-9:00pm): Antique Central - The Destination Edition - At Knox United Church (506 4 St SW), see a spooky-season staple in spectacular fashion at this special screening of the 1925 silent horror film The Phantom of the Opera, complete with live organ accompaniment. Admission: $5-20November 2 - November 10 (times vary): Calgary European Film Festival -  at Globe Cinema (617 8 Ave SW), there will be a variety of European Films at different venues to see!   • November 2 (8:00pm): S.C.R.E.A.M - At The New Gallery (208 Centre St. S), this artist-run centre specializing in contemporary work made with social and political art practices. This Halloween-themed fundraiser called S.C.R.E.A.M (spooky cash rules everything around me). Admission: $2
  • November 3 (2:30pm): Shine -  at Jack Singer Concert Hall, the Calgary Civic Symphony will launch its 2019-2020 season with a headlining appearance from acclaimed amateur pianist Dr. Thomas Yu. There will be a few different pianists playing at this event. Admission: $19-30.
