Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of September 3 to 8:


  • Jul 2-Oct 15: Farmers Market @ Triwood Community Association (2244 Chicoutimi Dr NW) 3-7pm. Runs every Tuesday throughout the summer.
  • September 5 (6:30pm): CIFF Trailer Party - Calgary International Film Festival turns 20 this year! At Globe Cinema, enjoy a free party where trailers for festival selections will be screened. For more information:
  • September 6 (7:30pm): Square Dance Rocks - At Highwood Community Hall (16 Harlow Ave NW), get dancing at a introductory evening presented by Square Dance Calgary. No previous experience or partner necessary.
  • September 8 (9:00am - 2:00pm): Market on 17th - Head to Tomkins Park for the first ever farmers market on 17th Ave. There will be tons of vendors, prizes and giveaways!
  • September 8 (12:00pm-4:30pm): Japan Film Festival - At Globe Cinema, there will be two free screenings at noon and at 2:30 pm.


  • September 5 (8:00pm): Taylor Williamson-  at the Laugh Shop at Hotel Blackfoot, comedian Taylor Williamson is in the house. Admission: $12.95-$19.95
  • September 5 (7:30pm): Top of the Country Finale - at the Palace Theatre, Alberta born duo High Country will perform a night of Canadian country music. This event is part of the Canadian Country Music Association's Country Music Week in Calgary. Admission: $20. For more information:
  • September 6 (8:00pm): Femme Wave Festival Fundraiser: Alien - At Globe Cinema. This fundraiser for Femme Wave feminist music and arts festival will feature a screening of the classic film Alien and a live set by local band Polly Dactic. Admission: $10-$15 for more information:
  • September 7 (3:00pm): Monster Jam - In the mood for an adrenaline rush? The Monster Jam is back! Go watch some monster trucks in action. At the Stampede Grandstand. Admission: tickets start at $26.95. For more information:
