Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of July 29 to August 4:

Calgary has a new free arts event going on all through the city this summer-- Lawn Chair Theatre. It’s family-friendly and free and you can find out where it will be near you by going to https://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/CNS/Pages/Children-and-youth/Seasonal-programs/Family-seasonal-programs.aspx

FREE:

  • July 29 (7:00pm-8:30pm): Walking Tour of Stephen Ave Ghost Signage & Heritage Buildings - check out the creepy part of Calgary. With ghost signs, old buildings and alley ways with a tour guide. Meet at the Mackay & Dippie Block - 218 8 Ave SW.
  • August 3 (1:00pm): Saturday's in C-Square - (C-Square, 7 Ave SE) Music from all over the world will be heard at East Village this summer. August 3 is offering Klezmer in the Square.
  • August 3 (8:00pm): Floating Lantern Peace Ceremony - At Olympic Plaza, This annual event is all about world peace and spreading the word through the sailing of paper lanterns. There will be children's chorus', poetry reading and various youth speakers. Admission is free, but you can rent a lantern for $5 or have one fully customized for $20.
  • August 5 (1:00am-6:00pm): Inglewood Sunfest: This free event brings you performers, vendors and delicious food.

PAID:

  • July 31 (10:00am & 6:45pm): Harry Potter at Canyon Meadows Cinemas - the theater will screen one out of eight films at the two showtimes. Admission: $5

  • August 3 (7:00pm): Don Amero- country songwriter Don Amero will be giving a small performance at The Gallery House (119 Nottingham Rd. NW) Admission: $25
