The Alberta Securities Commission has created a website to help people learn financial literacy, and avoid scams. There are a lot of quick quizzes, videos, budget calculators, and other tools to learn more to protect yourself. Go to http://www.checkfirst.ca/ to see if there is anything that you can use.

Jun 18: Green Calgary Volunteer Orientation @ Green Calgary (100,301 14 St NW) 6-7:30pm. Find out what being a volunteer with Green Calgary is all about. Jun 21: 9th Annual Walk for Reconciliation @ Harry Hays Building (220 4 Ave Se) at 7:45am, to Fort Calgary (750 9 Ave SE) @ 9:30am. Please see  for more info.

Jun 22: Summer Solstice Party @ Shaganappi Community Hall (2516 14 Ave SW). Bring a lawn chair or blanket and get to know your neighbours over a campfire. The event is free, but they would like you to register at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/summer-solstice-in-shaganappi-tickets-46372007924 to know how many people to plan for. There will also be ice cream available for sale.

Jun 22: Summer Night Market @ Southcentre Mall (100 Anderson Rd SE). 4-9pm. Food, entertainment, and local shopping.

Jun 22 & 23: The Market YYC @ Eau Claire Market (200 Barclay Parade SW) Fri 4-8pm, Sat 10am-4pm. Food, fashion, art, health and wellness.

Jun 23: Pay it Forward Community Action Day @ Ernie Starr Arena (4808 14 Ave SE) 10 am-3pm. Free family BBQ and round dance, with drummers from the Siksika Nation. Everything you need to know can be found on the facebook page for the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/179562706062042/

Jun 23 & 24: Cotton Candy & Financial Literacy @ Calaway Park. Events run both days from 10am-7pm. This events aims to help seniors avoid scams and fraud, and improve financial literacy. Jun 25: Beginner Golf Nights @ McCall Lake (1600 32 Ave NE) 5-7pm. Get all of your game and etiquette tips over 9 holes. You will want to book your tee times 4 days in advance, green fees are $16 for an adult. Regular Fee Assistance cards are not accepted at city golf courses, you will need to call 311 to request a specific Fee Assistance Golf Card if you would like to get a discount.
