Hi Everyone,

The Field of Crosses on Memorial Drive is all set up, and there will be a Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11, beginning at 10:15 am. You are welcome to visit the Field of Crosses any time from November 1-11, there is a list of times for the daily sunrise and sunset flag events here:

The CASS winter Carnival is coming up quick, November 16th from 5-8pm at The Crossroads Community Association (1803 14 Ave NE)—don’t forget to RSVP with reception by calling (403) 283-0611, or emailing It’s going to be a blast!

Also, CASS has rented the SAIT bowling alley again on Monday December 11, from 1-2pm. This means free bowling for you! This is a very laid-back event, to get together and have a bit of fun before holiday season kicks in full force. There is a cap on the number of people who can be in the alley, so please RSVP with reception by calling (403) 283-0611, or emailing

Nov 8: How to Series: Fermented Foods 101 @ Community Natural Foods (1304 10 Ave SW) 7-8:30pm. Learn how to make kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kefir, safely and deliciously.

November 10: South Calgary Art Show & Sale @ Marda Loop Community Centre (3130 16 Street SW) 1-9pm. In addition to great local art, there will be a silent auction, and refreshments.

November 12: Boomer Dance Party @ Game Time Sports Bar (6219 Centre St NW). This is the first of a series of weekly dance parties from 3-5:30pm for the 55+ crowd, with a full live band, and free admission and parking. See for more info.



Nov 6-27: Beginner Japanese Classes @ CommunityWise Resource Centre (223 12 Ave SW). 6:30-8:30pm. Four 2-hour classes are $40 altogether, payable at the first class. See for more info.

Nov 9: Adults only Night: Food & Chemistry @ Telus Spark Science Centre. 6pm. Regular admission rates apply, but you can always sign out one of our community connections passes for the event.

Nov 10: Calgary Wartime History Talk @ cSpace (1721 29 Ave SW) Starts at 1pm. This event includes a book signing of “Bird’s Eye View”, focuses on women in uniform, and includes an aerial photographic interpretation of World War 2. Tickets are $5.
