Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) is a division of Calgary Alternative Support Services and had been providing a variety of residential services since 1988. CARS provides supports to persons with high needs both within their home and in the community. The support is provided by staff who share a 7 day schedule, allowing for supports both day and night. 

The Residential Support Worker provides support with daily living activities such as household duties, preparing meals, managing emotions, grocery shopping, attending appointments and engaging in recreational activities. They are responsible for prioritizing safety and adhering to the support plan at all times. Documentation, effective communication and setting clear boundaries are essential to the position.

Available Shifts: You must identify which shift(s) you are interested in being considered for. All shifts are 4 on 4 off - day shifts 7:00 am - 3:00 pm; evening shifts 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm; night shifts 11:00 pm - 7:00 am. **Overnight shifts are 4 on 4 off and are all awake hours. The overnight Residential Support Worker will focus on prioritizing safety and adhering to the support plan at all times. Documentation, effective communication and setting clear boundaries are essential to the position.

All CASS staff are required to provide a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check. 

Required Education:
Disability Studies Diploma or equivalent

Required Training:

Successful applicants will complete mandatory training within 3 months of hire: Emergency First Aid; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention; Health and Safety; Abuse Awareness; Introduction to Your Role; Challenging Behaviours (Part I&II). The majority of these course are offered either online or in-house.

Experience:
Previous experience providing community/residential supports to adults with developmental disabilities.Experience providing supports to individuals with complex needs is preferred.
