Supportive Roommate

Calgary Alternative Residential Services is accepting applications for the position of Supportive Roommate on an ongoing basis, to ensure a good match for both staff and clients.  In this position, support will be provided in your own home, or in the client's home, focusing on increased skill development.  Responsibilities of these positions include (but are not limited to); assisting our clients with daily living skills such as budgeting, household management, meal preparation, hygiene and medical appointments, providing emotional support, recreation and leisure activities and assisting with volunteer opportunities.

Please ensure you provide detailed information about the available space, home environment and geographical location.  Previous experience in providing community/outreach support to adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.  A criminal record check will also need to be provided; for safety and security purposes.

Should there be a match with your qualifications and available vacancies, you will be contacted by a Community Support Coordinator.  We do not provide individual applicants with updates unless you have been selected to go through the interview process.

Required Education:
Diploma or equivalent Disability Studies

Required Training:

A Police Check is required from all CASS Staff. The successful applicant will have/or complete the following training within three months of being hired; Abuse Awareness Training, First Aid, CPI, Health & Safety training plus Introduction to Your Role and Challenging Behaviours (Parts I & II) online material. Some of these courses are available here at CASS.


Other Requirements:
A Police Information and Vulnerable Sector Check less than 6 months old.
