Laughing Allowed

Laughing Allowed is a unique program that offers people with disabilities the experience of creating and performing a stand-up routine, drawing from their musings on life and their experiences, in a setting that is inclusive, supportive and, most importantly, fun!

On November 4, #casscommunity member Blair performed in his second comedy show at The Laugh Shop. The show was a fundraiser for The Rehabilitation Society of Calgary, where Blair attends the weekly Laughing Allowed Stand-Up Comedy Program, which is facilitated by Derek from Arrow Comedy Training.

The show was a roaring success, with over 150 people in attendance, and Blair’s act garnered loads of laughs! Blair is already looking forward to his next show, which is slated to open in Spring 2020.

Annual Christmas Dinner

Every year our permanent supported housing programs Langin Place and Stepping Stone Manor host a Christmas dinner for the tenants of those buildings. It’s something that both staff and tenants look forward to and makes for a great opportunity to sit down and spend some time together.

In addition to a fantastic meal, gift bags containing socks, toques, personal grooming products, razors and candy are handed out.

Thank you to everyone who helps to make these two events happen, and especially to Calypso’s Tavernafor their incredible support. Year after year Calypso’s provides the greek potatoes, rice, carrot, gravy, and turkey free of charge. Thank you for being an incredible community partner Calypso’s!

Volunteer Awards

Connie won “Volunteer of the Month” with Volunteer Airdrie for her community contributions in November.

Mayor Peter Brown helped her celebrate with a selfie!

We’re very proud of all of our #casscommunity members who volunteer their time to give back to the community!
