Please take a moment to vote for ‘ Our Place’  a great idea that you can help to make reality. Each vote brings us closer to funding this amazing project. You can vote once a day.

CAPA proposes to lease a house with a yard in the city core. This initiative will focus on youth (18-30 years) who are marginalized due to intellectual / learning disabilities, life circumstances, lack of support and lack of resources.

We believe that services that ‘look like home’ will be less threatening and more engaging. ‘Our Place’ will be participant -directed and strengths based in it’s approach. This level of participation in the service creates ownership and investment in the service and provides a valuable life-skill in the area of working in groups, problem-solving and social development.

‘Our Place’ will house a variety of services and interventions but will focus on participant-directed, community based supports. It is our intention to provide a ‘person-friendly’ location to facilitate a three-pronged approach to empower participants.

Three sets of 2 tickets have been donated to CASS for clients who would like to attend the CMT Hitlist Tour event for free! 

It's at the Century Casino (1010 42 Ave SE, Calgary) at 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2011.

If you or a CASS client you know are interested, tickets are available from the CASS Main Office on a first come, first serve basis.

The Client Fund for Education and Training is an initiative to help low income Calgarians with disabilities access opportunities for training and education they otherwise may not be able to afford.

Solicitations for the 2011-2012 fiscal year have begun and Vecova will be accepting applications until October 31st 2011.

CASS has received complimentary tickets for the Battle of the Badges hockey game taking place at the Max Bell Arena, Monday, September 26, 2011 at 7:00 PM.  The Calgary Firefighters Hockey Team is taking on the Edmonton Firefighters Hockey Team, and we're told the Hanson Brothers are sure to create mayhem!

CASS clients and staff that are interested are welcome to contact Doris at reception to arrange to get these tickets (subject to availability).

Basic Cooking Class – Session 6
October 5 to November 23, 2011
9:30am - 11:30am at Co-Op Midtown Market
Cost: $55 (includes all materials)

This class will address the importance of basic cooking skills. We will be learning about proper food handling, storage and labeling. We also work towards understanding what it means to have a healthy balanced diet, and how to make healthy choices on a budget.

AND most importantly we will learn how to cook!!!
It is important for everyone to know that having independence in the kitchen is a responsibility, and to ensure that we have the knowledge, skills and tools to make sure it is a great experience each and every time.

We have a fabulous new instructor, Steve, who is coming to the table with some fun and innovative changes to the curriculum!

The Basic Cooking class is now taking registrations for the sixth session starting October 5, 2011.  Clients from all agencies and their support staff are welcome. In the past this course has filled to capacity quickly so if you are interested please contact Crystal at 283-0611 ext 304 or by email: crystal.tite@c-a-s-s.org.

Join the CASS Staff on Wednesday, August 17th at 1 pm for a play about schizophrenia, performed by people living with Schizophrenia.

Cardel Theatre, 180 Quarry Park Blvd. SE

The play is free - donations for the Schizophrenia Society are welcome.

Enjoy the play and stay for a CASS Social following!
